Every design portfolio says something like this:
- “I became a designer because I love turning ambiguity into focus.”
- “I’m a designer because I want to make people’s lives easier.”
- “My purpose is to sweat over details.”
I want to see portfolios with truth. My option for my updated portfolio:
- “I’m a designer because never in my life have I managed to finish a task without screwing around and finding out, and this is the field where it’s forgiven and even desired.”
- “I’m a designer because after graduating as an architect and starting my master’s degree, I understood I’d die of starvation if I tried to become an architect.”
- “I’m a designer because speaking and drawing were all I could do at the age of 3, and I haven’t acquired more meaningful skills since.”
- “I’m a designer because since childhood I’ve learned how to behave in ambiguity and be judged by incompetent people.”
